Add CreateGet breaking news sent directly to your in-box Create a Portfolio | Create an AlertJazztel said in a press release that it filed its case before the Spanish antitrust authority and before the country's civil court, seeking compensation of EUR337 million and EUR456 million, respectively.Jazztel alleges that Telefonica, the dominant telecommunications company in Spain, has been slow in providing Jazztel with leased lines for high-speed Internet access on digital subscriber line, or DSL, connections.Telefonica owns Spain's fixed-line telephony network, and is legally required to lease its lines to Jazztel and other competitors such as France Telecom SA (FTE), Germany's Deutsche Telekom AG (DT) and Sweden's Tele2 AB (TEL2-B.SK).Jazztel Monday reported a third-quarter net loss of EUR49.8 million in the three months ended Sept. 30, below the company's own targets, and blamed Telefonica for part of the loss.The company won a regulatory ruling earlier this year against Telefonica, in which Telefonica was ordered to pay around EUR7 million in compensation for delivering broadband access more slowly than required by law. Telefonica later appealed the ruling.A Telefonica spokeswoman declined to comment.
